What type of coursework does a Naturopath study?
Four years of medical school includes a foundation of basic and clinical sciences followed by general medicine topics such as pathology and pharmacology. Specialty topics unique to naturopathic medicine include nutrition, herbal medicine, physical medicine, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, mind-body work, physiotherapy and laboratory biomarkers. Licensed Naturopaths are also required to have 720 hours of supervised, direct patient contact and pass two sets of board exams. Four years of study is year round, each quarter averaging 25 to 28 credits.
